Meshinda – Flowing Bosphorus (2016)

The ensemble was founded in 2013; its two founding members, vocalist Guessous Majda Maria and sitar artist Toth Szabolcs, first met within the walls of the Music Academy. Two more musicians enrich the ensemble’s musical world with beautiful authentic folk instruments: Barvich Ivan and Boros Gerzson David.

Like Mesi, all members of the ensemble have a special connection to the cultural scene outside Hungary. Sitar artist Toth Szabi, as a multi-award-winning composer, also contributes to the group.

Meshinda offers a unique musical experience blending Hungarian, Turkish, Indian, and Moroccan folk music traditions. The album, inspired by the flowing currents of the Bosphorus in Istanbul, symbolizes the musical meeting of different cultures.
