On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey and the signing of the Hungarian-Turkish friendship treaty, the Turkish-Hungarian Scientific Research Center of Sıtkı Koçman University in Muğla organized an international conference on November 23-25, 2023. between, in cooperation with the Liszt Institute in Istanbul.

At the opening, Turkish and Hungarian folk songs were performed by Mária Guessous Majda (vocals, baglama) and Dávid Gerzson Boros (darbuka, drums).

At the event organized by one of the outstanding institutions of Hungarian studies in Turkey, forty of the most important representatives of Hungarian Turkology and Turkish Hungarian sciences performed. The theme of the symposium was research into the past, present and future of Turkish-Hungarian relations. About a thousand interested people took part in the event, which was also intended to launch the large-scale Hungarian-Turkish Cultural Season, to be held in 2024.
